a bit about me, your new igbo coach

A smiling man with a beard and earrings standing outdoors in a field of green grass, wearing a white baseball cap, a light green shirt over a white t-shirt, and white pants, with a wooden structure and warm lights in the background.

Welcome to a vibrant learning community where curiosity meets opportunity, in a new way of learning. I’m Obinna, and Igbo has always been my first language. Over the years, through my time in academia and the sciences, I’ve grown a deep love not only for teaching but also for preserving and advancing our culture. I’m deeply invested in the history, traditions, and future of the Igbo people, and I believe that language is one of the strongest threads that connects us across time and borders.

Even though I was raised in the U.S., I grew up speaking only Igbo at homeβ€”so much so that I had to take English as a Second Language courses in school. My grandmother spoke nothing but Igbo, and my family made sure the language was a living, daily part of my childhood.

I teach all dialects of Igbo, working closely with you in your specific dialect while also helping you train your ear to understand others. From day one, we start speakingβ€”and through what I call Continuous Igbo, you will notice your ability to converse growing dramatically, along with your confidence.

we go beyond command and response, as it’s not just about learning words and grammar; it’s about carrying our culture forward, one conversation at a time.

Join me, as each session is designed to enrich your skills and broaden your horizons for an enriched appreciation for igbo!
